I’m a big fan of Angela Saini’s Inferior: How Science Got Women Wrong and the New Research That’s Rewriting the Story (the thoroughly deserved winner of Physics World’s Book of the Year ) and Fine’s book explores similar themes in a page-turning blend of well-honed snark and science. She lays bare the type of teeth-grindingly over. "the physicists" is a delightful short play that our amateur theater group staged years and years ago, in which i played the part of einstein. in the play, a manaical doctor virtually imprisons famous scientists in the hope of getting her hands on the "unified theory" which would explain all scientific and natural phenomena and would therefore make her rich beyond anyone's dreams/5(34). There is a book titled "Group theory and Physics" by Sternberg that covers the basics, including crystal groups, Lie groups, representations. I think it's a good introduction to the topic. To quote a review on Amazon (albeit the only one): "This book is an excellent introduction to the use of group theory in physics, especially in crystallography, special relativity and particle physics.
